WELCOME TO 6TH GRADE SCIENCE: THE LIVING ENVIRONMENT!
GET READY to work along the Rio Grande, in our riparian forest known locally by its Spanish name "bosque!"
GET READY to be a REAL scientist doing REAL scientific research for the bosque!
GET READY to make a difference for the bosque NOW and in the FUTURE!
GET READY to work along the Rio Grande, in our riparian forest known locally by its Spanish name "bosque!"
- Throughout the year in 6th grade science, our study of the bosque becomes the framework for learning about life science concepts as well as how to be scientists.
GET READY to be a REAL scientist doing REAL scientific research for the bosque!
- Mostly brought on by human activity, the Rio Grande bosque is undergoing tremendous transformation. We study this change in the field and in the classroom. In particular, students assist with the Bosque Ecosystem Monitoring Program (BEMP), a research project for long-term environmental monitoring of the bosque ecosystem. BEMP is a joint effort coordinated by the University of New Mexico's (UNM) Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) network and Bosque School.
GET READY to make a difference for the bosque NOW and in the FUTURE!
- Throughout our science program, students are given the time and opportunity to experience and explore their local landscape with curiosity and enthusiasm, while building meaningful and lasting connections to it. In doing so, students realize their potential to be active and informed citizen stewards of their environment!
